Christmas
Is Coming
Music by Vince Guaraldi
You know this one's from "A Charlie
Brown Christmas"
I can never hear this song, or any music
from Peanuts,
and not think of all the kids dancing
while rehearsing their Christmas play. (You know the best dance is the kid
with his arms out straight) The way Vince Guaraldi plays translates to guitar
really well. That's not always true with a Jazz player

I Want
A Hippopotamus For Christmas
Words & Music by John
Rox
This is a nice little song I came across
this year. It's from the 50's and was originally sung by a little girl.

Jingle Bo Diddley
Bells
Music by James S. Peirpont
There is a really cool version of Jingle
Bells
by Booker T. & The M.G.'s
I wanted to do something similar but
not the same.
The Bo Diddley rhythm fit perfectly
don't you think?

Five
Pound Box Of Money
Words & Music by Barker/Bailey
I fell in love with this song the first
time I heard it.
It was written and sung by Pearl Bailey
and it's
just wonderful.

Have
You Seen Him
Words & Music by Eugene
Record/Barbara Acklin
This is a remake of the great Chi-lites
song of course.
The real lyrics were very easy to adapt
to a Christmas song.
Take a look for yourself on the Lyrics

Feliz
Navidad
Words & Music by Jose
Feliciano
I've always like this song even though
it's just
the same 4 chords and half a dozen words
over and over and over again.
I wanted to give it a Mariachi feel
and some sort of
Latin feel. The only problem was I don't
really know any.
I do however know La Bamba & Low
Rider by War I think
they fit together well.
(And don't forget J,P,G & R yea,
yea, yea)

Santa's
Gonna Kick Your Butt
Words & Music by Trevor
Strong/Mike McCormick
I heard this on the Dr. Demento show
last July. It's by a
Canadian band called "The Arrogant Worms".
They're very funny. I took the liberty
to change
one word in the title to make it a little
easier on the little kids.
( I don't want anyone to get into trouble
like after that
Navy song a few years back. It's just
silly if Santa's gonna
catch your bass. )
